Orlando-type Massacres Preventable by New “Peace Law”

America desperately needs The Peace Law, which is presented in my (author Edward Marshall, MD) book: The Peace Prescription, available on Amazon.

Under the Peace Law, which should be passed in every state and by the US Congress, any citizen can report, to the police or other law enforcement authorities, any person who has expressed the plan/intention to commit violence or murder against anyone for any reason other than self defense. Any intentionally false accusation would be punishable by fine, imprisonment or both. The accused person can be arrested based on the accusation and the Court can issue permission to search homes, cars, and tech devices for evidence. The accused will come to trial if recommended by local District Attorney. If the Court finds the person guilty, the convicted person is to be incarcerated until such time as the guilty person or his/her attorney can convince the Court, or a parole board, that the person no longer represents a serious threat to commit violence or murder other than in self defense.

Weaker versions of this law exist in some states, but are either too weak, or too rarely used, or both.

Being a serious threat to commit violence or murder must be a crime! We must stop waiting to arrest or shoot the criminal only after the violence and murders have been committed!!

It’s freedom of speech to say you hate certain people or wish they were dead. But, it should be a serious crime to seriously and provably intend or plan to commit violence against or to murder those people. And, it should be the same crime to recruit others to commit such violence.

Contact your Congress representatives and Senators, as well as your state legislators. Let’s get this done!

My book came out in 2009. Can you imagine how many terrorist and other murders could have been prevented if the Peace Law had been put into law back then? And BTW, there are other provisions of the Peace Law that you can read about in The Peace Prescription, my book that led to me being nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize last year.
